During the last week, Alex Felix Tiniakos, R&D Scientist at CreativeNano visited our lab in the context of the REDONDO project. Alex is working on the chemical modification of lignin and nanolignin.
CreativeNano is leading WP4 of the project, that has the objective to synthesize appropriate additives to enhance fire retardancy, antioxidant properties and crystallinity of PEX.
The aim of the visit was to prepare and characterize composites containing these modified lignins and perform a preliminary assesment of their properties.
During his stay, Alex conducted the experiments with the help of Alexandra Zamboulis, postdoc and project manager of REDONDO and Christina Samiotaki, PhD student who works on the development on crosslinked polyethylene.
We are excited for the future of our collaboration and hope to have the honor of hosting Alex in our Lab again very soon!
